USS Lexington CV-2
This page when complete will contain photos of the Lexington and other US Naval ships from the early 1930's. They are all original photo's as far as I can tell. A box containing the photos as well as other items such as ships newsletters and orders were found at a flea market in 1980 by my uncle who was a WWII Naval veteran. The photos were in fairly good shape but were starting to fade with age. I was able to restore them in Photoshop by eliminating scratches and dust spots as well as correcting the tone.
The photos below were from a collection of a sailor who lived in my old neighborhood in Chicago. It's difficult to narrow down which photos were taken by him or by someone else. Some are obviously US Navy photos. However I believe them to all be original unless specified otherwise.
The photos below are from the 1934 Presidential review. Obviously they were not taken by the sailor who had them but rather a collection he might have bought.
The photos below are of the sailors in various places throughout the states. They are training bases possibly in California.
The PDF files below are various newsletters from the ships of the US fleet in the early 1930's. These were published each day with news from around the world. Some were in better condition than others but I managed to scan them all. They make for interesting reading.
