German Imperial Hussar Cross Belt How-to.
Below are a series of pics showing how I made the cross belt on this bust. I tried painting the texture buy was never satisfied with the result. I thought it would be best to have an actual texture so i tried several methods before succeeding with this one. I used Duro epoxy ribbon which has a property in it that makes it malleable for a very long time. I need this to shape the belt around the torso and also to add the texture. After mixing two equal portions of Blue & yellow I proceeded to roll out a thin ribbon of Duro. I coated my working surface with baby powder first so the putty doesn't stick to it. After rolling it to a thickness of about 1/64 inch I used a small rat tail file to add the texture. Then I trimmed the sides to the desired width. As I said earlier this putty remains workable for a long time so I was able to still use it the next day. I measured and cut my strips to the dissed length and applied them with super glue. Afterwards they were primed and painted with printers inks mixed with Liquin. I was happy with the result but it did take some trial and error to get them just right.
